The North Bergen Police Department currently has 123 sworn law
enforcement officers and 19 civilian employees.
The North Bergen Police Department is a civil service employer
and is governed by rules set forth by the New Jersey Department of Personnel. As
a result, we select candidates from eligibility lists that are supplied to us by
the State of New Jersey. Township residents wishing to pursue a career with the North
Bergen Police Department must obtain a Law Enforcement Exam (LEE) test
application through the New Jersey Department of Personnel (NJDOP). For more

Residents of the Township of North Bergen who wish to pursue a
career as an emergency dispatcher for the North Bergen Police Department can
contact the North Bergen Department of Public Safety for more information. The
Department of Public is located on the second floor of Township Hall. The
address for North Bergen Township Hall is 4233 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen,
New Jersey 07047. Their telephone number is (201) 392-2031.
Only dial 911 when there is a life or death emergency that
requires the immediate response of emergency service such as police, fire or
emergency medical services. All 911 calls are received by emergency 911
operators who are trained to screen calls quickly and efficiently. When there is
a situation that requires police response but is not an emergency, use one of
the non-emergency 7-digit telephone numbers found in our
police directory or dial the police dispatch

We receive many requests from patch collectors to obtain one
of our police uniform patches. Due to the limited resources of uniform patches,
as well as security concerns, the North Bergen Police Department is currently
unable to honor any patch requests at this time. We appreciate your interest in
the North Bergen Police Department and apologize for this inconvenience.

When you want to say thank you for a job well done by a police
officer or other employee of the North Bergen Police Department, you can visit
or call the North Bergen Police Department during regular business hours and ask
to speak to a supervisor. You can also write a letter or print and fill out our
officer commendation form
and mail it to the North Bergen Police Department, Law & Public Safety Building,
4233 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New Jersey, 07047, Attention: Chief's
Office. Please try to remember the name of the
employee or officer, the date of the occurrence, and the circumstances of how
your were assisted. The incident will be reviewed and the police officer or
employee could receive an award or letter of commendation.
What should I do if there is a dog running loose in my
neighborhood?
If there is a dog or any other animal in your neighborhood
that you believe may be pose an imminent threat, please call the North Bergen
Police Department dispatch center at (201) 392-2100 immediately. Any other
animal complaints may be forwarded to the North Bergen Township Health
Department by calling (201) 392-2084.
Tickets can be paid in person through the North Bergen
Township Violations Bureau. The Violations Bureau is located on the first floor
of the North Bergen Township Law & Public Safety Building. The address for the
Law & Public safety building is 4233 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New
Jersey, 07047. Their telephone number is (201) 392-2088. Please contact the
Violation Bureau for more information including hours of operation. People can
also pay most tickets on-line through the New Jersey State
Municipal Courts Direct website.
Due to safety purposes, the North Bergen Police Department is
not accepting requests for ride-alongs at this time. We appreciate your interest

incidents of speeding down residential streets. If there is an aggressive driver
creating an immediate threat or nuisance you should contact the North Bergen
Police Department dispatch center at (201) 392-2100. Please try and document any
information on the vehicle in question including license plate number, state of
registration, color, make, model, and driver description.

Police reports can be obtained in person at the North Bergen
Police Records Bureau located on the second floor of the North Bergen Township
Law & Public safety Building. The address for the Law & Public Safety building
is 4233 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New Jersey, 07047. The North Bergen
Police Department Records Bureau hours of operation are Monday through Friday,
from 9:00am to 3:30pm, excluding national holidays. If you wish to receive a
report by mail, you must send in a written request, along with a self-addressed
stamped envelope and $10.00 money order. Please contact Records Bureau at (201)
392-2145 if you require any further information.
An individual who has temporarily lost the use of one or more
limbs, is temporarily disabled as to be unable to ambulate without the aid of an
assisting device, or had had their mobility otherwise temporarily limited as
certified by a physician, may be eligible for a temporary handicapped parking
permit.
To be eligible for a temporary handicap parking permit, the
applicant must obtain an application (ISM/SS-68) from the North Bergen Police
Department Traffic Bureau located at North Bergen Police Department Annex. The
North Bergen Police Annex is located at 6100 Tonnelle Avenue, North Bergen, New
Jersey, 07047. It is recommended that the application be picked up in person by
the applicant. The applicant must have their physician certify the application.
The application MUST be completed by a licensed physician or it will not be
accepted. Return the completed
application to the Police Traffic Bureau along with a $4.00 money order to begin

may only be obtained through the
New Jersey State Motor
Vehicle Commission.
Fingerprints can be obtained in person at the North Bergen
Police Records Bureau located on the second floor of the North Bergen Township
Law & Public Safety Building. The address for the Law & Public Safety building
is 4233 Kennedy Boulevard, North Bergen, New Jersey, 07047. Fingerprinting is
usually performed Tuesday through Friday between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and
11:30 a.m. excluding national holidays. Please contact the North Bergen Police

fingerprinting schedule.
To obtain a liquor license you must contact the North Bergen
Township Clerk's Office. The Clerk's Office is located on the first floor of
